More Information on the Sage Prime
The Sage Prime is often used to measure gas mass flow rate and consumption in various applications, such as monitoring compressed air or natural gas flow for energy management or to sub-meter gas for cost allocation. Sage meters are also used to monitor digester gas or biogas for carbon credits to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Other applications include vent air, combustion air, and flare gas.

Sage Metering is a pioneer in technology development, having brought the first hybrid-digital bridge circuit to the industry over ten years ago. This provided a quantum leap in flow meter performance and long-term reproducibility. Sage also introduced the high contrast, easy-to-read graphical display with the Sage Prime. It has a compact design, low power dissipation, high resolution, and wide rangeability.
Perhaps the company’s most significant contribution to the industry was introducing the In-Situ Calibration Check over five years ago, which eliminates the cost and hassle of periodic factory recalibrations. Most Sage meters feature this calibration validation method, a simple, three-minute check at a “no flow” condition. The on-site test is reliable, regardless of the test gas temperature, and assures that the sensor is clean and that the flow meter has not drifted, shifted, or changed since its initial NIST traceable factory calibration.
One of the most notable features of the Sage Prime (in fact, all of the Sage flow meters) is the extreme sensitivity. This is due to the proprietary circuit that has a resolution of up to 1000 to 1 and one second response time. In contrast, other thermal mass flow meter manufacturers have a response time of at least 15 seconds and require a low-end flow limit or cutoff.
